A BIT ABOUT US...

A couple of steps in our journey...

We (Audrey and Frank), started the Growing Space after spending most of the last 20 years working in the humanitarian, conflict mitigation and social benefit sectors overseas (mostly in different countries in Africa). In 2019 while working in South Sudan, we decided it was time to put down roots - both literally and metaphorically! We've now been on this land since 2021, slowly making progress in building soil health, infrastructure and relationships within our community.

In our nascent farming efforts, we use a regenerative approach to farming that emphasizes rebuilding the soil, biological diversity and the health of the ecosystem around them. The farm celebrates foraging, wild foods, mushroom cultivation and small scale animal raising. Central to our vision is building community engagement, mutual support, and connection with nature.

It took us just under three years to finish our self-build passive solar house. Off-grid for power and using as much local and low impact materials as we could, this little house keeps us warm and cool without the use of central heating or cooling

We are using a no-till approach to cover crops in our pastures, seeking to repair decades of erosion. Our lamb are doing their part too! Every day or two they move into a new paddock, intensively grazing for a short time, thereby stimulating root growth, and fertilizing the field as they go.
